Bushbuckridge Health Outreach Brings Youth-Friendly SRHR Services to Islington

The Mpumalanga Department of Health in Bushbuckridge Sub-district brought essential youth-friendly healthcare services closer to young people through an integrated Youth Comprehensive Services outreach held at Mlindos Tavern in Islington on 19 September 2026.

The outreach focused on improving access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services amid concerns over the high rate of teenage pregnancy in the sub-district.

Young people received a range of free services, including HIV screening and testing, PrEP initiation and education, family planning services such as contraceptive implant insertion, condom distribution, TB and malaria screening, and SRHR education.

The initiative was supported by the Clinic Committee, Traditional Authority, Epilepsy South Africa and Mlindos Tavern management.

The Department continues to encourage young people to make use of free and confidential healthcare services available at their nearest clinic.
