Three killed in N4 collision near Ngodwana

Three people, including two tourists from the United Kingdom, were killed in a multiple-vehicle collision on the N4 Toll Road near Ngodwana this afternoon, 16 September 2026.

It is alleged that a truck travelling from the D799 Kapsehoop Road failed to stop at the intersection and collided with three vehicles travelling along the N4.

The vehicles involved were two light delivery vehicles (LDVs) and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The SUV's driver and passenger, both from the United Kingdom, as well as the driver of one of the LDVs, died at the scene.

The truck driver and occupants of the other LDV were transported to Kiaat Hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services remain at the scene while investigations into the collision are underway.

The N4 is partially closed, resulting in slow-moving traffic. Motorists are urged to approach the area with caution and allow for delays.

The MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
