On the morning of May 13, 2025, a fire broke out at the Maebela family's home in Casteel, Bushbuckridge. An elderly man was trapped inside. Lucky "Fizzo" Haii Suka Clo, a passerby, noticed the fire and bravely entered the burning house to rescue him. The man sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Despite their efforts, half of the house was destroyed, and some belongings were lost. The Maebela family, including the elderly man, his wife, and their 14-year-old granddaughter, were affected by the incident.
