Elderly Couple Released on Bail for Fraud Charges

An elderly couple, Christopher Nkosi (65) and Sibongile Nkosi (59), co-directors of Ingcwenga Events Management cc, appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court yesterday on fraud charges.

The couple voluntarily handed themselves over to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Nelspruit after warrants of arrest were issued. Their arrest follows that of their co-accused, Nhlanhla Mashaba (39), who was taken into custody on 11 February 2026 after being on the run.

Investigations revealed that Mashaba allegedly collaborated with the Nkosis to manipulate e-filing during the 2013/2014 tax season, causing the South African Revenue Service (SARS) a loss of R212 469.85. The Hawks’ Nelspruit Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit handled the case.

The Nkosis were granted bail of R4 000 each, while Mashaba remains in custody pending a bail application on 26 February 2026.
