Four Shot, Three Dead in Bushbuckridge

Between June 1 and 2, 2025, four individuals were shot in separate incidents in the Bushbuckridge area of Mpumalanga, resulting in three fatalities.

On June 2, an Ethiopian national was found deceased in his vehicle on the R536 near Cork Trust in the Calcutta policing area. The victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest. Reports indicate that he was ambushed by suspects driving a white Toyota bakkie while en route to visit a friend. Spent cartridges were recovered at the scene.

Earlier, on June 1, police responded to a shooting at a tavern in Oakley near Mkhuhlu. A silver-grey VW Polo TSI was found at the entrance, riddled with bullet holes. The driver was declared dead on the scene, while a female passenger sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.

In a separate incident on the same evening, a man was discovered dead with two gunshot wounds at a tavern in Marite Trust. Emergency services declared him dead on the scene. No arrests have been made in connection with these incidents.
