Township Entrepreneurs Gear Up for Growth
Township entrepreneurs across Mpumalanga are preparing for the Township Entrepreneurs Alliance (TEA) Kasi Business Workshop, taking place on Saturday, 13 September 2025, at CHAF ZAR Lifestyle, Kanyamazane in Mbombela.
nnnnThis marks TEA’s fourth workshop in the province, following successful sessions in Emalahleni and Embalenhle. The theme, Sustainable Business Practices, focuses on helping township entrepreneurs build enterprises that can withstand challenges, create jobs, and grow into generational businesses.
nnnnAccording to Xoliswa Moraka, founder of Colla4Growth, many township businesses fail to outlive their founders.
nnnn“Too many of us are building survivalist businesses that depend entirely on the founder, without any plans for growth or longevity. The reality is that when the founder steps away or passes on, the business often collapses. My mission is to help small black businesses transition from survival mode to growth-oriented enterprises,” she explained.
nnnnThe workshop will feature Masterclasses on integrating sustainability into business operations, responsible decision-making, and long-term value creation. Organisers say the programme is designed to equip participants with practical tools while staying rooted in the township economy.

- Kasi Pitching Challenge: Registered entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas for a grand prize of R50,000, including cash and business support. nnnn
- Kasi Business Exhibition: Entrepreneurs will showcase their products and services, with only 15 exhibition spaces available. nnnn
- Hacking Networking: A collaborative session where participants work together to solve community challenges. nnnn
- Mbawula Chat: A fireside conversation with an experienced business leader sharing lessons and strategies for growth. n
Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required.
nnnnFor the past decade, TEA has trained more than 100,000 entrepreneurs and supported over 500 township-based businesses with funding and mentorship. The organisation continues to play a vital role in strengthening the township economy.
