More Than 20 Arrested in Witbank and Vosman Crime Operation

A multidisciplinary police operation in Witbank and Vosman has resulted in more than 20 arrests, the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the seizure of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The operation ran from 16 to 20 September 2026 and targeted suspects linked to carjackings, vehicle theft, house robberies and other serious crimes in the Nkangala District.

Police teams from SAPS, the Tactical Response Team, Flying Squad, Anti-Hijacking Team, Public Order Policing and Tracker companies took part in the operation.

Among those arrested were suspects linked to drug offences, assault, robbery and kidnapping, house robbery, attempted murder, business burglary and other crimes. Two suspects were arrested with unlicensed pistols and ammunition, while another was found driving a Hyundai H1 reported stolen in Brakpan earlier this month.

Five suspects were also arrested for immigration offences after allegedly being found without valid documentation.

Mpumalanga SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise commended the teams and partners for their cooperation, saying the operation demonstrated a coordinated approach to combating serious and violent crime.

The suspects are expected to appear in various Magistrate’s Courts in the Nkangala District.
