PREMIER NDLOVU HANDS OVER NEW HOME TO 72-YEAR-OLD BUFFELSHOEK BENEFICIARY

Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu today 15 September 2026 handed over a newly built three-bedroom home to 72-year-old mother of seven, Ms Barilitiye Mashego, in Buffelshoek, Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.

The fully furnished home, equipped with electricity, running water and a geyser, was provided through the partnership between the Mpumalanga Provincial Government and Absa Bank.

Mashego and her family had spent years living in an overcrowded and inadequate house. The new home now offers the family a safer and more dignified place to live.

An emotional Mashego struggled to find words to express her gratitude, with her child speaking on her behalf and describing the house as a life-changing gift that has restored dignity to the family.

Premier Ndlovu congratulated the family and encouraged the children and grandchildren to prioritise education and use the new home as a foundation for a better future.

The Absa Housing Project focuses on vulnerable households, including pensioners, child-headed families and multi-generational families living in overcrowded or unsafe conditions.

The handover was attended by Absa Regional Manager Alfred Nkosi and Bushbuckridge Executive Mayor Lydia Moroane.
