Suspect Arrested in Mpumalanga for Illicit Gold Mining
A 43-year-old suspect was arrested on 15 March 2025, during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the combat team deployed for Operation Vala Umgodi in Mpumalanga.
nnnnThe operation targeted illegal mining activities at an industrial site in Delmas following a tip-off. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a large-scale illicit mining operation, including big phendukas and other illegal mining equipment.

Investigation and Arrest
Preliminary investigations suggest that the shop owner was processing gold, leading to the confiscation of mining equipment from the premises.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on 17 March 2025.
