Twelve Suspects Caught in Acornhoek Raid

Police in Mpumalanga have arrested twelve suspects during Operation Shanela in Acornhoek on Thursday, 18 September 2025. The suspects, aged between 17 and 33, were found without valid documentation to be in South Africa.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the suspects were taken into custody and are expected to appear before the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court today, Friday, 19 September 2025. They face charges under the Immigration Act.

In addition to the arrests, six other individuals were issued fines for various offences. These included failure to display a licence disc, driving without a valid driver’s licence, contravening the Road Traffic Act, and public drinking.

Police detectives are working closely with the Department of Home Affairs to verify the legal status of the arrested suspects.
